| Our base is our home town of Grecia, which we will always call our home in Costa Rica. However, in the past months as more "gringos" settle in the area prices have begun to rise...and properties have become more difficult to find. And we have always believed that the area of the NW Central Valley contains some of the best priced real estate and indeed , the best places for retirees and those searching for new roots, to settle. The climate, people, pricing, and proximity and low crime rate... and the very rural nature of the area makes it a great place to settle. So... because of primarily rising prices, a need for lower prices of properties and the need of a different environment .... |

we searched further north. And we found San Ramon. Known as "the heart of Costa Rica", San Ramon lies in close proximity to the Pan American Highway as well as other excellent roads which lead to mountains, volcanoes and of course, the ocean. San Ramon is rich with history and culture. It is a bustling town of about 60,000 and is still in the heart of coffee country and is decidedly rural in nature. |

| Traveling for only a short while outside of the city one finds absolutely spectacular mountains which feature views to the Nicoya Penninsula and the ocean, the Arenal volcano, and of course , surrounding mountain ranges. And of course, other than the sheer beauty of the area, the other primary reason for settlement here are the prices: one manzana ( slightly less than two acres ) begin at less than $15,000. Here one finds properties with absolutely spectacular views, still convenient access to the capitol of San Jose and the airport, an excellent hospital and medical care, a great bilingual school, a branch of the University of Costa Rica, and even a movie theatre! ( and for those of you who care about such things... the beaches are only a half an hour away! _ And even with all of this, less than 75 "gringos" live here. |

It is truly undiscovered. Within the coming weeks you will see properties in San Ramon being featured for sale. While San Ramon is not for everyone, ( primarily because of the increased distance from San Jose and the airport...an extra 30 minutes .... AND because of the slight increase in altitude...5000 feet...which results in more fog and clouds in rainy season ) we feel that the added benefits make San Ramon definitely worth consideration. |
