Followers of this site know that we are a relatively small company and do not have the resources of our larger and more active competitors...particularly when it comes to beach and oceanview listings. And most of you also know that CR HOME is dedicated to value, not overpriced listings just for the sake of listings.
With those caveats in mind, within the last few months we have found an area which we believe represents a beach area which represents not only extraordinary value, but also is incredibly beautiful. Comments from those who have seen the property have ranged from open mouthed silence to "this must be what Costa Rica was like 25 years ago!".
Hyperbole or no? That is for you to decide.
The area of Bajamar is 1 and 1/2 hours from San Jose on the Pacific coast. It is north of Jaco and south of Puntarenas and north of the mouth of the Tarcoles River. ( by quite a ways ). The high priced condominiums and real estate of Nativa are in view of the area and Los Suenos and Punta Leona are within only a few miles.
The area is quiet and tranquil and populated only by a few weekend homes owned by Ticos from San Jose or Alajuela. The area is heavily treed and contoured so that almost all of the properties we have for sale contain stunning ocean views.
Almost all properties are within a very short walk to a secluded, quiet beach. Fruit trees and lush vegetation cover nearly the entire area and much of the greenery is set aside for reserve.
This area is NOT populated. It is not yet well known. Utilities are readily available. And best of all, prices are not even a quarter of what better known areas ( and more heavily populated) are selling for . And lastly...for those of you who are concerned about property values and appreciation... the new highway , which is currently under construction AND is 80% completed, from San Jose through Orotina and to the Pacific beaches will be completed within a very short time. And this area is the closest beach area...and driving time will be reduced even further to less than one hour from San Jose.
NOTE** the above description was written almost a year ago, in Dec./Jan. of 2005-6. Reception to Bajamar has been phenomenal...so much so, in fact, that there are now very few properties available in that area. The new properties we do have we list on the listings section of our beach properties section.

It is more populated and is more "Tico" but is stunning in its beaches and wildlife. It is conveniently located and, unless you have your heart set on an active nightlife and a more trendy area, represents Costa Rican beach life.
Read our description in the above link. Virtually everyone who has seen the area ( same as Bajamar ! ) has loved it ( well, maybe one guy didn't...it was too hot for him ). We are selling an average of one of these homes here weekly.
We suspect that the same thing will happen here that happened to Bajamar... so... if you are looking for an inexpensive beach home and you are beginning to suspect that you will never find it...or you think you have been "priced out of the market"...see these quickly. By the end of summer they will be gone. Hurry.
